🐾 About the Breed
Everything you need to know about Fluffy French Bulldogs
Whether you’re just discovering Frenchies or you’re already head-over-heels, this guide will help you better understand the breed — especially the rare and charming Fluffy French Bulldog.
What Is a Fluffy French Bulldog?
A Fluffy Frenchie is a long-haired version of the traditional French Bulldog. The long coat is caused by a recessive gene called “LH” (long hair) — and when two carriers are bred together, some of the puppies may inherit the fluffy coat.
They’re just as stocky, playful, and loving as their short-haired cousins — just with a soft, plush twist!
Are Fluffy Frenchies Purebred?
Yes — when responsibly bred, Fluffy French Bulldogs are 100% purebred. The long-hair trait is naturally occurring in the breed and DNA-testable. At Frenchie Acres, all of our adult dogs are Embark-tested to confirm genetic health and coat traits before breeding.
Health & Wellness
Like all French Bulldogs, Fluffies have a few breed-specific considerations:
- Brachycephalic (flat-faced): They can be sensitive to heat and require proper cooling in warm climates.
- Compact, muscular builds: Keep them fit, not overfed — they’re prone to weight gain.
- Snorty charm: Snoring is part of the Frenchie package!
- Vet care is essential: Fluffies are happiest and healthiest with regular vet visits, vaccinations, and quality food.
At Frenchie Acres, we raise puppies indoors with constant socialization, early vet visits, microchipping, and a full health protocol before they go home.
Personality & Temperament
French Bulldogs are known for being:
- Affectionate: They love people (and being the center of attention).
- Loyal: They bond deeply with their humans.
- Playful but chill: Great for apartment living or slower-paced homes.
- Goofy: Expect clown-like antics and funny expressions.
Fluffy Frenchies are no different — they just come with an extra cuddly coat and even more “aww” factor.
Grooming & Care
Fluffy Frenchies require slightly more grooming than smooth coats — but it’s still low-maintenance compared to other long-haired breeds.
- Weekly brushing helps prevent tangles and keeps their coat shiny.
- Occasional baths (every 4–6 weeks or as needed)
- Regular ear cleaning and nail trims are a must.
We’ll provide grooming tips and recommended tools when your pup goes home!
